Firstly our congratulations to Ian Pagan and Chris Jagger for winning the Pairs Championshipè at the Autumn Congress In Bournemouth.

There were over 300 hundred players competing all together at this popular event.

The Teams trophy was won by the team consisting of Celia and Derek Oram and Peter and Dee Lindon.

Madeira

Good reports have reached us of the recent Bridge Overseas holiday in Madeira.   A good time was had by all the participants who found the island very interesting.   The group went on several excursions and made the most of the sightseeing opportunities.

Becker a defence against no trump openings in which 2 clubs shows minors and 2 diamonds show majors.

Bullet   slang for Ace

Byzantine  complex form of key card Blackwood

DEPO an acronym for Double Even Pass Odd a method for showing aces after interference over Blackwood.

Devil’s bedposts     4 of clubs

Dog  a weak hand

DOPE   another acronym  for Double Odd Pass and Even     see DEPO above.
