Back home again from Tenerife, alas, goodbye to sunshine and fine weather.
We had a smashing time apart from the sunburn which affected my first few days.
My eye lids burned of all things, so take heed!. Protection all over the face!
We had lots of sun but also managed to find lots of bridge.
A big thank you to the clubs which took us in as guests.
The Italian club at the Arona Gran was a lot of fun

Also a big thank you to Alf and Doreen at the Atlantis club.

I would like to give our thanks to Harry and Betty who have even offered to put up with us again if we manage to get away later in the year.
Unfortunately we did not make it to the club at Los Gigantos nor to the French club which is between Las Americas and the French club.
Next time we will be more adventurous.
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to compile a list of welcoming bridge clubs at holiday resorts.
This might be useful as there are some anomalies on the internet, embarrassingly we called a number from there in Tenerife which turned out to be a horrible gaffe on our part as the bridge player had died and our call was upsetting to the bereaved.
We stayed at an apartment hotel the Aguamar in Los Cristianos. It was really good.
The apartment itself was small but very clean, the maid came 5 times a week and the bins were emptied daily.
The pool was just warm enough to swim in and was very quiet. There were more loungers than sunbathers so no hassle over chair reservations. I can certainly recommend this hotel.

A little local news now, the West Midlands Congress celebrated its Diamond Jubilee at Bransford at the beginning of December. It was well attended considering the weather.
On Wednesday May 18th Ladies’ and Men’s pairs are to held at Moseley Bridge Club and on Sunday May 23rd Green Point Swiss Pairs at WMBC T 1pm.

This year’s Lords versus House Commons bridge match ended with a score of 19-17 with The Lords winning!
Congratulations!
Perhaps the new crop of M.P.s after the election will bring new talent to the Commons.
