April 2008 Bridge Newsletter.
BridgeOverseas holiday in Lanzarote at the Sands Beach Resort was an unqualified success.
Apparently the complaints about the bridge room from last year had been ironed out and the room we had this year was on the first floor of the main building away from other visitors.
Also last year there had been complaints about the food so this year the bridgers had bed and breakfast at the hotel and were free to make their own dinner arrangements.
There were dozens of reasonably priced restaurants with in 500 kms of the hotel so dining was not a problem.
The new hotel restaurant manager had apparently worked a miracle and the breakfast buffet was superb ranging from continental to the full English . So no complaints there.
One of the party needed medical attention and she was very pleased with the thorough treatment and care she received free from the Spanish clinic. Another member had cause to go to the dentist and found the charges reasonable and the dentist made no charge at all for the 2nd and 3rd visits.
Thanks to Hugh and Phil for directing for the whole month.
Altogether a very happy time and we hope to be back same time next year.

Beware there is a new kid on the block! Bulgaria secured a place in the semi-final against Israel in the White House International teams, playing for prize money of £20,000. Small beer when compared with tennis or football but quite impressive for the poor bridge circles.
